According to CHINA NEWS WEB report, last year China’s ice cream sales volume is 1bllion liter in China Mainland. And individual consumption is about one liter, which has ranked the third in the world; at present ice cream sale amounts to about 23 billion yuan with an annual growth of 25%. And it prognosticates that with the improvement of living level, sale will reach about 40 billion yuan . Sino monitor International ,an independent Sino-Japanese market monitoring company, released that the individual consumption is expected to grow to 6 litres in 20 years.This report is based on the China Marketing and Media Study's (CMMS) database, which for the last seven years followed over 70,000 Chinese consumers in 30 major cities, who were aged between 15 and 64. Ken Donaldson, director of the ice cream division of Nestle's China operation, also predicted that the Chinese ice cream market would rise steadily alongside the nation's rapid economic growth. Guangdong Province, the main area of southern ice cream production, has only three dairy farms. However, China consumes 1.4 million tons of ice cream annually with one-fourth sold in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong Province. With the center of Guangdong, Guangdong is not only the cradle of Chinese ice cream but also the top of ice cream consumption. Foreign ice cream companies, including world famous ones such as the Wall's from Britain, Nestle from Switzerland and Hagen Dazs from USA have introduced new products to China. The Ice Cream China 2006 with a total exhibition area of 20,000sq.m has been attracted many exhibitors, which from Italy, New Zealand, France, America, Poland, South Korea and so on. Aimed to provide an opportunity of exchange, promotion and cooperation, The Ice cream China 2007 will be held on May 12-14, 2007, in Guangzhou International Exhibition Center.
